DAY 2 OF WEEK 3 ISLAND X The winds and storm from yesterday lingered this am and with -15 windchill we gave the kings the am off and decided to wait till after lunch to go out, We launched the boat on the east ramp at 2pm as more ice is building in the harbor due to the the north-NW wind blowing at 28-40mph and snow. Dan Martis killed his 3rd king And Kevin & Kevin both got a Hen in the 1 hour we hunted. It was a typical Island X deal the weather lets up and suckers us out to launch the boat and go hunt as soon as we get out 400 yds and start running decoys the wind switches 25degrees and picks back up needless to say it was a short hunt, but fairly successful 1 hour and 3 Eiders. We managed to also have our first fresh crab of the season, dan & Jackie showing off helping with some fresh crab appetizers. MMMM-MMM good. The winds are letting up and temps are rising Team X-Treme is very optimistic for tomorrow to finish up our last 2 guest's with some kings. Just Sitting here smelling fresh homemade bread, Grilled Pork loin and Greenbean casserole and a homemade Chocolate cake from Debs Kitchen. Gotta run to go eat. Weare ready for a big smackdown 2morrow.

Tis the season to be merry, our old friends Capt Andy Hillstrands and the Time Bandit crew were in Port today and we went down to say hello and wish them a safe season, Just like last season The crab is flowing through Island X along with lots of King Eider blood in our boats. After today's 9 kings and 4 more Guests getting kings on day 1, we are at 43 for the season so far. We had another lady get her kings today Jackie Martis along with her husband and Past client Dan Martis from Illinois. Kevin also got a nice Drake from Superman Point along with some nice Harlequin, Dave got his limit of trophy longtails along with getting a shot at his first kings. Deb is enjoying having another lady in camp and the pictures are kinda nice also hope everyone enjoys a few of our Pics from today. We quit early due to the Winter storm warning as the winds are gusting between 40-50mph as we speak along with the roads being in tough shape. Gonna blow for a few days but lots of birds around and we will finish up our last 2 guest's as soon as safely possible. ANyway best wishes to everyone. Week 2 is officially closed Aaron,Dell, Dell sr ,Gordy left an hour ago Jeff and Ed left early 2 days ago as they had all filled out on ducks. week 2 was one of the biggest weeks we have had as our 6 clients put 22 kings to the Boat. Our new full group of 6 arrived Dan Martis and friends from Illinios, We got a quick tour of the island since we had light and got to watch the crab boats unload a few hundred thousand pounds. A few more pictures from the week, Things are winding down this week Getting ready for Prime RIb Dinner then an early bed time, Worked on decoys,lines and boats today getting ready for another big week, We look forward to returning client Dan Martis and his wife along with his group from Illinois. The Crab boats are in unloading in full force, A big wind is hitting us as we speak, It should settle down in the next few days.

The Island X Slam

Well Jeff and Ed left today a couple days early as they had shot all there birds and were speechless about how great things worked out. So me and russ guided the other 4 and had another hot day on the frigid Island X. Our father & Son group paired up on some trophies and Aaron finished up strong again. We are about finished up with all the species for this week and everyone going home happy. A couple of highlight pics from the day!! Finished the day with another great dinner by Debbie and said goodbye to my old friend Scotty Mcwatty at the airport. Congrats to him also on getting a couple of Drakes.

King Eider Hunting Safari success

Despite the colder than normal weather and the harbor being froze up we continue to drive on and pursue the mighty King with much success, With 11 years of hunting experience on the island hunting for kings, It all pays off knowing where and when to be on the X. In the past 3 days even with bad weather we have put 15 kings to the boat and missed another 15-20. We also had a little safari action today with a few of the guys hunting foxes in the am and getting a couple real Nice Trophies. A big congrats goes out to 3 new members of the King Eider Club, Gordy from Portland, And Dell JR & Dell 111 from Texas as everyone has gotten there kings this week with many of the guys with 3 or 4 already plus some bonus birds of WW Scoters, Harlequin and Longtails. As for it being a gong SHow out here, This could not be farther from the truth Aleutian Island Waterfowlers has not been hindered or had our hunting affected 1 bit by another Outfitter on the island if anything the extra boat has helped us for safety and bird traffic, We hunt our areas that we have always hunted and they hunt theres and everybody seems to be coexisting just fine despite the rumors and occasional miscommunication. Anyway we are on a record setting pace to top last years #'s of Mature Trophy King Eiders and leading the way On Island X with happy hunters and a full camp. As always I will put my past results and continued success up for the public to judge as The truth is in the pudding, the end results tell the story better than any website or Duck forums propaganda. Today was a big day On the X, A huge congrats goes out to Aaron from SC, Ed from Texas and Jeff from PA. The weather was brutal this morning around -15 windchill as you can see the harbor is freezing up hard, We managed to brave the ice flows another day to launch the Bankes boat and the 120% effort paid off. Lots of great trophies were had. The winds is calming down and hopfully another good day tomorrow. The cold has beat me today! But the Blue & Gold Fell hard.
